CHAMPAIGN, IL (November 2, 2018)—The Champaign County Chamber of Commerce announces Thomas, Mamer & Haughey, LLP as the 2018 Small Business of the Year winner. They will be presented the coveted award at the 2018 Chamber Annual Meeting held at the Hilton Garden Inn in Champaign on November 2, 2018, 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.
The Small Business of the Year Award is given to an outstanding small business that has made a significant contribution to the local community and economy. The award is intended to recognize a successful and growing business that has achieved its status through ingenuity and hard work. The Chamber has been honoring local businesses with this award for 27 years.
Founded in 1946 by attorneys James G. Thomas and Wallace Mulliken, the law firm of Thomas, Mamer & Haughey today ranks as one of the top firms in Central Illinois.
The stand out aspect of TMH is its ability to survive and prosper under the changing conditions of the past 72 years, and in the same location. When the firm formed in 1946 it occupied three rooms on the fifth floor of the First National Bank Building. Over the decades, they have expanded to their current position of occupying the top three and a half floors of the same building.
The key elements of this success are people – among the best in their respective fields – carefully and specifically chosen for the expertise they bring to the firm’s practice and clients. These individuals share the firm’s long-standing commitment to provide a complete range of services in a timely manner at a fair price.
The firm has been committed to giving back to the community through volunteerism. Over the years, members of this firm have been actively involved in a LONG list of local organizations. Included, but not limited to, are these organizations where TMH employees have volunteered:
- University of Illinois, Carle and Christie Foundations
- Salt and Light
- United Way
- Champaign County Arts Council
- C-U One-To-One Mentoring Program
- DSC’s “Ocktober Fest” Fundraising Committee
- Eastern Illinois Foodbank
- WILL Community Advisory Committee
- Clark-Lindsey Village Board of Directors
- Cunningham Children’s Home
- Boy Scouts of America
- And, they have had partners serve on the Chamber’s public policy committee, board, and one partner has even
served as a former board chair.
